Military Veterans to Benefit From Sales of Junkyard Joe #1 Comic Book

Military veterans will soon be able to benefit from the sales of a new comic book. Junkyard Joe #1 is set to be released later this fall, with a portion of the proceeds going to help veterans in need. The comic book is the brainchild of writer/artist team Geoff Johns and Gary Frank, who have chosen to benefit two Veteran charities to make this happen.

The Importance of Supporting Military Veterans

Military veterans are an essential part of our society. They have put their lives on the line to protect our country and our way of life. Unfortunately, many veterans face challenges when they return home from combat. One of the biggest problems they face is homelessness.

According to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, nearly one in four homeless adults in the United States is a veteran. This is a shocking statistic, especially considering that veterans comprise only a fraction of the adult population.

There are many reasons why veterans become homeless. Some struggle with mental health issues like post-traumatic stress disorder or depression. Others have difficulty finding a job or adjusting to civilian life. Many can’t afford a place to live.

Whatever the reason, we must do what we can to support our military veterans. We owe them a debt of gratitude for their service. This passion fueled the creators of Junkyard Joe to use the comic’s debutto raise money for and give visibility to critical Vet service organizations.

How Junkyard Joe is Helping Military Veterans

Featuring a robotic soldier and the backdrop of the Vietnam War, Junkyard Joe is a setting that draws from the bravery and strife of war and its toll on members of the military. It’s a struggle that persists through the centuries. With a familial history in the military dating back to WWII, both Frank and Johns feel an intimate connection to the Veteran community. That is why they teamed up with leading artists at Image Comics to produce five black-and-white variant covers for Junkyard Joe #1 to raise money for a US charity and one in the UK.

Proceeds from every sale of a Junkyard Joe #1 variant cover edition will be donated to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans and the United Kingdom-based Veterans Aid program. Both organizations are dedicated to helping Vets with housing, mental healthcare, job assistance, and other crucial forms of help.

Junkyard Joe #1 and its variant cover editions will be available on October 8th, 2022.
